The World Trade Point Federation (WTPF)


The World Trade Point Federation (WTPF) is an international non-governmental,non-profit organization established in 2000.With its origins in an innovative trade efficiency program initiated by UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), the main goal of the Federation is to increase the participation of small and medium enterprises in international trade through its network of more than  110 Trade Points located in over 70 countries across continents, making use of electronic commerce technologies.

Mission

The Federation aims to become a global trade facilitator And trade information provider for small and medium Enterprises through the local human network and the Global electronic trade system

Activities

The activities  of  the  WTPF are designed to help mitigate impediments to trade and form part of a broad-based initiative towards greater transparency and efficiency in trade.

Through its network of Trade Points worldwide, the WTPF leverages tools aimed at reducing time and cost inefficiencies  and  increasing  accessibility  to  e- Technologies in trade.

By making a visible improvement in trade flows, the activities of the World Trade Point Federation ultimately touch on the wider economic issues of development and poverty reduction.

Objectives

To increase the participation of SMEs in the international trade finding reliable business partners

To assist SMEs in developing an efficient trade providing them access to international market and investment information worldwide

Provides a unique Electronic Trade Opportunities (ETO) system allowing SMEs to post and receive business opportunities daily and free-of-charge.

Offers a non-stop presence on the Web. The Federation developed a global company database known as Global Trade Directory Service (GTDS). This database features potential trading partners from all over the world.

Services

Through its partnerships with UN agencies, international organizations and the private sector, the WTPF is able to provide Trade Points and their member companies with reliable, timely, value-added information on a country- and sector-wide basis, also offering dynamic interactive tools such as the Global Trade Directory and ETO systems.
